In Salvador, Brazil, for example, there are almost two hundred transsexual prostitutes on the streets. (Kulick 5) They often live in humble one-room apartments, sharing broken down houses with other transsexual prostitutes. They support themselves mostly by prostitution, dressing as women and taking on female names, hairstyles, clothes, and even hormones."
