"There are many views on the history of the flushing toilet. Various records that show ?the invention of the flush toilet goes at least back to the time of King Minos on the Island of Crete sometime around 1700 BC. "The Sea Kings of Crete were renowned for their extravagant bathrooms, running hot and cold water systems, and fountains constructed with fabulous jewels and workings of gold and silver" (Privy 5).
