# 55727
Tobacco Use in Women
A brief study of the trends of tobacco use in women.
1,154 words (approx. 4.6 pages) | 4 sources | MLA | 2004 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper looks at the statistics of tobacco use in females and discusses specific problems associated with women who smoke. These problems are related to smoking during pregnancy, while near young children, and when breast-feeding. It also looks at what needs to be done to encourage the cessation of smoking.

From the Paper:

"Since 1964, it has been known that smoking is a cause of human cancer. Unfortunately, in the 40 years since this report smoking has only become more common on women and the heath effects are becoming more and more apparent each year. Smoking has both physical and psychologically addictive elements, and is notoriously difficult to quit. Research into cessation has been available, but has also been mostly targeted only at Caucasian females. Relapse rates are very high, with one of the most significant factors in relapse prevention being education and motivation on the part of the smoker."
