1,575 words (approx. 6.3 pages) | 5 sources | 2005 United States

Paper Summary:

The paper looks closely at the implications from the Biblical text regarding the creation of humans from the image and likeness of God. The paper begins by looking at the Biblical basis for this phrase and then at the implications about the fall from grace. The paper ends with an analysis of how we are also conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.

From the Paper:

"There are times when one hears a term or phrase so often that one never stops to consider its intent. The idea that men and women are made in the `image of God' is a facet of Christianity that stems forth so thoroughly that many non-Christians have been made aware of this facet of Christian faith. However, the implications of this phrase are immense. After all, no human can thoroughly know what God is and therefore, how can one human being thoroughly know their own image, if they are constructed by something which they can not fully understand. This religious anthropology, this study of the doctrine of man, suggests that one must study the origin of humankind, the creation, to analyze the methodology and implications of what it signifies to be created in the image and likeness of God."
