The bank has already approved $1 billion in 2003 and through the multi-country AIDS program it has already allotted $600 million for 15 projects in Africa. Bulgaria was another economically ailing nation, which has benefited immensely from World Bank loans. The country, which was struggling in the early 1990's, has managed to achieve economic stability with a 4% GDP growth in 2002. From 1990 till 2002, the nation has received more than $1,167 million in loans from the World Bank."
