From the Paper:
"The World War II generation generally grew up in the 1920's. During this time, America was filled with much promise. As America's prosperity rose, so did much of the world's economic growth. Entertainers of the period included Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, GingerRogers, and Fred Astaire. During the economic boom of the "Roaring Twenties", the traditional values of rural America were tested by the Jazz Age. Women smoking, drinking, and wearing shorter skirts symbolized this period. The average citizen was buying automobiles and appliances on credit (Brokaw, 5)."
