This paper consists of two parts, The first is a historiography of materials on the Great War, as World War one was first called. The second part is an attempt to explain why the United States became involved in peace settlements with regard to the Middle East. There was never a separate decision to settle the Middle Eastern issues -- these were part of the Paris Peace Conference.
