Under capitalism, the role of state is to protect the rights of individuals and the masses. The state is also responsible for protecting legislature from the threat of violence and fraud. However, after the turn of the century modern liberals focused their efforts on increasing the government's power in terms of regulating private economic activity and transfer wealth among its citizens."
