The Power of the US Economy

Paper Summary:

This paper addresses the issue of why the the U.S. is economically powerful. The paper provides the thesis that the USA is economically powerful because of its location in North America (away from European/Asian areas) and because of its its size and natural resources. In addition, the paper explains that Mexico and Canada are not as powerful economically to cause true economic competition.

From the Paper:

"America is economically powerful because it is a capitalist economy. There are many nations that claim to have capitalist economies that burden their citizens with regulations intended to limit their success as capitalists. In some cases, the government owns certain industries or subsidizes other industries. This is not true capitalism and to the extent that the government competes with private industry or limits a capitalist's efforts to act in his or her vested interest, the process is in a sense self-defeating."
