The paper focuses on the positive influence television had on the families of the 1950s. It talks about its influence on morality, family unity, communication, respect, and work ethic.
From the Paper:
"Television shows in the 1950's like Leave It to Beaver, and Father Knows Best transcribed for middle class America what a good family should be. Hollywood created the model family, a mother and a father with a kid, a dog, and a house living in suburbia. These fictional families provided positive role models for parents as well as their children. The model family promoted hard work, strong family bonds, communication, respect, good morals, ethics, and values. While the cookie cutter Hollywood family was perhaps a jaded idealism to some, it had a very beneficial influence on society as a whole."
