This paper looks at the Nuer, the largest ethnic group in the southern Sudan. It looks at how they were in the 1930s, when most of the studies were done, and at a more recent study which shows changes in their lifestyle due to two civil wars.

"The Nuer people live mostly in Southern Sudan in the Upper Nile Province around the junction of the Nile River and the Bahr el Ghazal and Sobat River and extend up the Sobat across the border into Ethiopia (Jenkins).
