"In describing the presence of the Suitors at his home and the overall deterioration in the balance of the dwelling, Telemachus begins to truly comprehend the seriousness of his situation. Athene, upon viewing the abode, inquires to Telemachus as to the purpose of the Suitors? stay at his home. On page 10, lines 230 through 252, Telemachus explains their purpose as well as the encumbrance they have placed on his environment. Telemachus begins by informing Athene of the wealth and splendor that his home had once held within it's walls before the absence of his father. He then continues by explaining how the gods have made his father vanish, which he describes as being a far worse curse for him than if he was cognizant of his father's sure death."
