Some people believe that crime can be explained using individualistic theories (Gomme 31). Other people believe that crime can be explained using structural theories (Gomme 47-57). This essay will look at both types of theories. It will be argued that the media mostly presents crime as an individualistic activity. Individualistic theories of crime appeal to the middle classes who do not want to feel responsible for crime. "
