The Mandala

# 66654
The Mandala
A paper discussing the spiritual meaning of the mandala and how it is rooted in our psyche.
1,281 words (approx. 5.1 pages) | 8 sources | MLA | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper begins with a brief history of the symbol of the mandala and then takes a look at its spiritual meaning, its deep roots in our psyche, and how the artistic, mental health and even the scientific professions have explored the meaning of its spirituality.

From the Paper:

"Mandala means center, circumference or sacred circle in Sanskrit. Most mandalas are circular, symmetrical, and abstract, though some are depicted as a triangle or a square. The circle represents totality of self and life. Symmetry reminds the viewer that when change occurs in part of the soul, all of the individual's life is affected. Abstraction indicates activities of soul and spirit, not physical-literal activity."
