"The fundamental statement of faith about Jesus Christ in the Book of Revelation, therefore, is revealed through one central image: the "slaughtered" Lamb is risen and "has conquered" sin and death and so is "worthy" to open the scroll and receive praise and worship. The sacrificial death of the Lamb set in motion God's plan of salvation and "ransomed" God's people and set them free from sin and death, once-and-for-all (5:9). Herein lies the significance of the lamb. Just as the blood of the paschal lamb signified the deliverance of the people of Israel from slavery and bondage in Egypt, so too the blood of the Lamb signifies the deliverance of God's people from slavery to sin and death."
