Through examination of the characters and events in Michael Shaara's "The Killer Angels," this paper looks at the historical war at Gettysburg. The story is told through the eyes of the generals and the men who were at the battle. Both the Northern and Southern perspectives of the war are included.From the Paper:
"Generals Robert E. Lee, Joshua Chamberlain, James Longstreet, and John Buford are the focus of Shaara's story, which discusses the feelings and innermost thoughts of each of the men. Rather than present his readers with the opinions of historians, Shaara shows them the letters, words and documents of each of these men during the three-day battle.
