This paper contends that the industrial revolution can be described as the name given to the many changes to Britain in the latter part of the eighteenth century and early 19th century. It explains that changes occurred that no one expected, not even scholars of that time period. The positive and negative changes, are examined, including the economic and structural transformations of Britain that led to creating a social environment where child labor was no longer needed because parents made enough money to support the family.
