The men are seen as "messengers" or intermediate workers who help to raise the crops, which are given life from Mother Earth. This is a recurrent theme that is expressed in all phases of life.Birth
Birth is an important event to both the mother's and father's clan, children of both sexes being very much desired by the Hopi. Girls are specially prized because of their role in the perpetuation of the clan and because of the reproductive powers..
