Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health related states or events in specified populations and the application of this study to control of health problems. Certain populations in Canada and around the globe are at high risk for tuberculosis (TB) including aboriginal peoples, foreign born residents from countries with a high prevalence of TB, disadvantaged inner city populations and those with HIV infection.
