"Within the organizational structures, three significant theories of learning styles have emerged during the modern educational years. Beginning with B.F. Skinner who proposed that the majority of learning occurred when the instructor designed and controlled the learning environment, these theories have been alternately used, challenged, and then replaces as their effectiveness waned. Skinner's theories originated during the 20's and 30's at a time when our culture was highly structured with authoritarianism. The industrial paradigm is largely similar to Skinner's approach. During the 60's and 70?s, while society at large rejected authority for personal freedom, the idea of cognitive learning theories emerged."
