The writer discusses that for less invasive procedures, music therapy is helpful but for more invasive procedures music therapy does not really seem to affect the patient's anxiety levels or pain after surgery.

Music therapy can be employed in a number of ways; but for this discourse, the importance of the therapy is to help in the reduction of preoperative anxiety, so that amount of medication throughout the surgical process is reduced."
