A review of the "Book of Job" with an emphasis on the theme of divine justice.
Written in 2002; 2,900 words; 11 sources; $ 106.95
Paper Summary:
This paper looks at the book of Job in the Bible. In the end, the purpose of the book of Job appears to be to question the concept of divine justice. While the prologue indicates that Job is being tested and thus focuses on his suffering and reaction, the dialogue shows that in reality it is God who is on trial, and it zeroes in on his nature and his relationship to the world. In other words, by testing man rather than allowing man to test him, God is the one who is put under scrutiny.
