In considering the rapidly changing environment organizations must work within, it is not so surprising that new strategies have been developed and implemented. One such strategy is the use of outsourcing. This paper discusses outsourcing and shows that, in the end, it is a beneficial tool that many organizations are using to increase their competitiveness.
From the Paper:
"One of the most significant trends in business today is outsourcing. Outsourcing is defined as "the relinquishing of business processes or entire functions to external vendors." (Langer, D. 2004, Mar./Apr. "Maximizing the value of a co-sourcing relationship." Financial Executive 20(2). p. 66.) Outsourcing can occur at any point in a product's life cycle. It can include one small component of the product, an assembly, the entire manufacturing, distribution, or even service of that product after it's been delivered to the customer. No matter how much or little or at what point the outsourcing occurs, in the end, it is all the same in that the organization is relying upon an outside vendor to carry out some segment of the product's life cycle."
