This service is provided free of cost at the various points where the Medicare facility have been established. The healthcare provided here includes subsidized rates for prescribed medicines, including free medicines for some chronically ill patients. It also includes free or subsidized rates of treatment by certain doctors such as dentists and optometrists. Medicare is also offered to certain people belonging to the 'special needs' group, such as Aborigines, people belonging to rural and inaccessible areas, and people with mental illnesses."
