When this habit is taught in early childhood, it is naturally ingrained in the daily routine of the child." Johnson (2001) tells us that, developmentally, children 5 and 6 years of age are social-emotional learners; that they respond more readily to social-emotional factors than they do reading or math skills which create stress in the child at that age. "
