This paper details in-depth the different types of learning disabilities, mainly affecting children, including dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia and dyslgraphia as well as diagnosing the condition and the treatments currently available. "Statistics compiled from the National Institute of Health reveal that as much as fifteen percent of the US population has reading difficulties (InfoZone, "National"). Therefore, it is important that we as a society understand the causes of such a prevalent problem. Since the condition occurs across all ethnic and economic backgrounds, some of the earliest theories about dyslexia are now considered archaic. Today's advanced techniques reveal that dyslexia may be at least in part a genetic predisposition. The condition often occurs down successive generations and among close relatives. Collectively, formal studies reveal that as many as forty percent of dyslexics have a close relative who also experiences difficulties in reading."
