# 90279
Sociology of Deviance
This paper explores the social theories of deviant behavior.
1,125 words (approx. 4.5 pages) | 1 source | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

The paper discusses how social scientists have been debating for years the origin of deviant behavior, largely from one of three perspectives: personality based, peer influence or the creative tendency to manifest itself through some form of deviance. One of the most popular explanations for criminal behavior as a form of social deviance and one that is personality based has been the rational choice theory that has been reexamined in several research studies; most notably, one by Copes who examines criminality in reference to auto theft.
