Discrimination laws in the United States stipulate that those with disabilities must receive reasonable accommodations within the workplace. These reasonable accommodations are the equipment and/or tools that are needed in order for the individual to successfully complete his or her job without undue hardship. Additionally, reasonable accommodations depend on the disability or condition that is creating the disability, and would also be dependent on the type of position that the individual was filling within the organization. Most employers today ask employees if there are any accommodations that they require to fulfill their positions, and this is directly related to laws protecting individuals against discrimination in relation to disabilities.
