↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

This paper examines the political history of the United States, from the first colonists to the Civil War. It describes the factors that led the colonists to flee Europe and the establishment of the first government. It then details the fictionalization of different political ideas in the northeast and the south with particular reference to the issue of slavery and the black vote after the war.

From the paper:

?The freethinking Founding Fathers of the United States were extremely cognizant of the need for a new government in North America when they gathered in mind and body in the late 1700s order to create that government. Most of the people, who had first fled Europe, fled because of an oppressive governing body that was a combination of state and church. When the Puritans came to North America in order to break with the established Church of England in the early 1600s during the reign of King James I, they were fleeing their homeland due to extreme religious persecution. They realized, upon their arrival in the ?New World,? that it was necessary to set up a new form of government - but they were not carrying with them the idea or concept of democracy.?
