Written in 2002; 2,431 words; 5 sources; MLA; $ 74.95
Paper Summary:
This paper examines the question of how the United States would react if the threat of a nuclear war arose or if an actual nuclear war broke out. The writer discusses how the American foreign and domestic policies have changed from before and during the Cold War, to present day when the threat of international terrorism is real.
From the Paper:
"Currently, eight nations hold the fate of the world in their grasp. These nations consist of the United States, Russia, China, North Korea, Iraq, Iran, Libya, and Syria. A slip-up by any one of them could launch the world into a nuclear holocaust that could quite possibly destroy much of the earth. The U.S. currently leads the other nations in nuclear technology mostly because of its massive arms buildup during the Cold War. By being the forerunner in nuclear technology, the U.S. has therefore been the most active as far as diplomacy with other nations. Current relations with North Korea, Iran, and Iraq exemplify the existing strategies being used with nuclear weapons. So far these strategies have been successful, but as those countries, and others, catch up to the U.S., some serious revisions will be essential to maintain a certain level of peace in the world. With these other countries quickly catching up to the U.S. in nuclear capabilities, the U.S. must employ some new strategies to maintain their grasp as the international superpower."
