This paper provides an explanation of how religion is needed in order to hold marriages together. It shows how religion and spirituality can significantly contribute to marital adjustment, conflict resolution, marital satisfaction, stability and marital longevity.
From the Paper:
"Marriage requires communication, honesty, and a mutual understanding of the other's needs. A marriage requires two people. Those two people are a team, who have to work together in order to have a happy and successful marriage. If one person strongly believes in a specific religion and attends a place of worship, that person is still bound to fail in his/her endeavors. There is a possibility of this happening, if this person did not attend a place of worship with their partner. Since marriage equals "togetherness", as explained in the article, it is impossible for this marriage to remain stable without the other spouse's presence."
