Reconstruction in Europe Post WWII

Paper Summary:

This paper argues that while United States foreign policy has been lambasted in some European circles for many years, those same individuals would do well to remember the US contribution to getting Europe back on its feet after WWII. Specifically, this paper, after looking at some of the representative data, notes that the United States contributed to the economic stability and military security of Europe at a rather considerable cost to itself.

"At the present time, we live in a world where a great deal of malevolence is ascribed to every U.S. foreign policy decision. In the wake of the Iraq war and foreign and domestic criticism of the decision to go to war in the Middle East, it is easy to forget that US foreign policy has lent assistance and resources to the outside world when both were desperately needed. In particular, this paper will outline an episode in United States foreign policy that is frequently cast aside by U.S. critics in Europe: the monumental reconstruction of the continent after World War II."
