Rattlesnakes are found in Mexico and various parts of the United States, particularly the southwestern states and California. They tend to be larger in the warmer climates and smaller in the cold climates, eating vegetation and sometimes small rodents.
Most distinctive about the rattler is the defensive behavior of the coil and strike. Actually often overlooked is the rattlesnake's first mode of defense--an endeavor to hide or escape with flight and protective coloration.. If these defenses fail, the rattler resorts to its attitude upon which its sinister reputation is largely based.
Different species of rattlesnake vary in sensitivity to intrusion. Some are more nervous and excitable than others and..."
