An autobiographical insight into minorities in the city of New York.
Written in 2005; 1,350 words; 5 sources; $ 53.95
Paper Summary:
This paper acts as an autobiographical look at how New York City treats minorities, specifically the writer, an African American male. First, this paper investigates the community-at-large regarding its likeness to the writer and how it is populated by minorities. This paper then discusses some differences between how minorities live as opposed to others. Next, the paper highlights the differences between the writer's group and the city's leaders, both political and economic, as well as how these leaders view the writer's group.
From the Paper:
"A melting pot. It would seem that this term, for so long used to describe what the United States of America's multicultural identity is like, has fallen out of favor. Yet, where I am from, New York City, the term "melting pot" can still be used to pretty much accurately describe the community. It is a city made up of many different shades and types of people, all of whom set aside their differences to become New Yorkers. However, it often seems a little easier for some people to be more of New Yorkers than others, and often this ease or difficulty is because of the color of their skin or their gender. As an African American male who is also a New Yorker, I will use this paper to discuss the racial and gender difficulties seen in this community that I call my own. I will do so by looking at my community."
