Psychic Consequences of War
This paper examines mental illness in the military by looking at the film; "The Soldiers Heart."
675 words (approx. 2.7 pages) | 2 sources | 2005 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper examines "The Soldiers Heart" which seems to demonstrate that mental disorders can be caused by unbearable experiences in combat. The paper explains how the theme and content of this film infer that under these circumstances, it is normal and perhaps human to suffer emotionally and suffer psychological break downs because of the horrors of battle. The paper maintains that it is not surprising that "The Soldier's Heart" portrays the psychic consequences of war in such a way, for previous films such as "The Red Badge of Courage" and "All Quiet on the Western Front" have presented the same theme.
