Prometheus was a titan, a race of gods who reigned before Zeus and the Olympians. Prometheus, whose name means "Fore thinker," was blessed with the gift of prophecy by his mother Themis, the goddess of Earth and ultimate mother of all. He was a clever deity, a master craftsman and creator. He created man and taught them the many crafts that were necessary for survival. However man lacked a crucial gift: fire."
