Problem Privatization

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses how, without appropriate implementation, preliminary researches and enterprise restructures, privatization can lead to a disaster. Many companies and governments are not prepared for instant change to a privatized environment. It explains that many countries that have applied privatization system to their state-owned companies have revealed the benefit of working in competitive sectors with quality-oriented products and services.

"The IMF saw "shock therapy" privatization as one way to fulfill its duty of supervising countries in financial difficulty. This principle has also been adapted by the World Bank to help these countries with certain loans. Based on the organizations' standpoint, when the countries revamped their system, adjusted and adapted to "liberalization, deregulation, and privatization," they could set the schedule without giving longer trouble in the countries' debt record. Such countries usually agreed to the condition since they found it hard to reestablish their economy without the help from the organizations."
