↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

This work asks the question: Has the learning ability of children who attended school within the Wall Street District of New York during the terrorist attacks of September 11th and their aftermath has been significantly affected? The work addresses the severity of the issue, including the possible exodus of children from these school locations and also those who returned to school in the same location.

From the Paper:

"It was acknowledged early on that some of the most challenged victims of the September 11th attacks are the children who witnessed them, either live or through the repetitious television coverage of the situation. Children sense the fear and anxiety in adults and tend to feel a sense of lost security. It was clear from the beginning of the aftermath of the terrorist attacks that educators have an important role in assisting children to reconcile their fears and feelings of lost security."
