Politics and the Mass Media
A discussion regarding the political plight of women in North America.
2,475 words (approx. 9.9 pages) | 11 sources | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses how although women have made considerable strides in recent decades, it is hardly a revelation to discover that much work still remains to be done. The following paper explores one area in which it may be said that women continue to lag behind men, specifically female politicians throughout. North America continue to fight against a mainstream media that portrays them either in stereotypical ways or conversely in wholly negative terms. To elaborate upon this last point, the paper touches upon a number of studies which capture the difficulties faced by female politicians and therefore provide a useful context for further discussion.
