Paper Summary:

The paper relates that setting goals and most importantly, writing them out, is essential to one's success in achieving goals. The paper discusses the four main categories of a strategic plan, that include personal understanding toward the self, the obstacles for which there may be significant hardship blocking the path toward the final target, the advantages/disadvantages pertaining to the path to success and lastly, the actual necessities within the strategy for success which allow it to be attainable. The paper applies these principles to a plan to achieve promotion into the management sectors of Verizon.

"A strategic plan for personal success begins with what a research study regarding three groups of Harvard graduates indicated as essential. Setting your goals and most importantly, writing them out. The study regarding the three groups of Harvard graduates showed that the ones who wrote down their goals were the most successful at reaching them, while the ones who took note of their goals "mentally" were only moderately successful. Finally, the ones who did neither were least successful.
