Physical Education in Middle School

Paper Summary:

This paper offers a review of the literature relevant to physical education in middle school. Included in the paper is an exploration of pre-adolescent diversity, followed by a curriculum evaluation, pedagogic content, a case study example and the hidden curriculum. The importance of this age group is seen in the beginning of the paper when middle school is defined as an age group, called pre- or early adolescents that are experiencing many changes in their physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development, more so than at any other time in their schooling.

This system includes political, economical, moral, and social interests that are impressed on the student as a part of the process while teaching physical activities and sports. The physical educator therefore must examine their role regarding the social curriculum that they are passing to their students."
