Based on a biographical examination of Peter Drucker and Tom Peters, this paper presents their individual philosophies on performance and management. "Tom Peters and Peter Drucker were both well known for their approach to management. While Peter Drucker might be referred to as the father of modern organizational management (Blanchard as cited by "Thought leaders," 2005), Tom Peters focuses on individual capabilities and a passion for excellence. This paper will highlight the performance management styles of both men and follow up with a discussion on performance management. According to Leider (as cited by "Thought leaders," 2005) one of the salient points about Peter Drucker's philosophy was that it incorporated three different aspects, the commercial, the human and the societal elements of business. Drucker was somewhat of a renaissance man when it came to leadership concepts."
