This paper examines Locke's writing which is a revolutionary work on the structure and purpose of political authority. One of the greatest debates of the 16th and 17th centuries was over the nature of political authority. This paper examines "Second Treatise of Government" as it relates to this debate and looks at Locke's philosophical opinions in the same context.From the Paper:
"One of the core principles in democratic thought is the belief that all men are created free and equal.
