A discussion of the quality control decisions of one organization and one corporation. It describes the activity and success/failure of the approaches used to improve quality control. KFC introduced a "keep fresh" policy for their food products and DataWorld introduced an automated in-line testing system that uses the highest diagnostic protocols to check assemblies prior to removal from the assembly line.

"Quality control is perhaps one of the most important aspects of any business or organization. When it fails to meet expectations we often hear about it on the evening news because it can often mean the difference between life and death. During the last few years we've heard a lot about the quality of Firestone Tires. The company has been blamed for the tread separating on their tires thus causing accidents, which have led to numerous lawsuits against Firestone. The quality of meat is an issue we often hear discussed in the news. Viruses found in tainted meat not only cause serious illnesses but can lead to death. Even the Red Cross has been making news lately with reprimands from the FDA for their lack of quality control on blood screening techniques, which has led to infected blood making their way to blood banks. It's easy to see why quality control is a priority to any company."
