" Why Nursing is Invaluable - and Unmeasurable Of all the professions, it is entirely possible that nursing is the most misunderstood - and under-appreciated. The following paper will outline why it is not possible to properly define or measure what nursing is because much of what it entails lies in the realm of the unmeasurable or indefinable. In other words, nurses must be not only healthcare professionals, but also confidantes, administrators and promoters of their profession and of healthcare more generally. Indeed, it is arguable that no other vocation within the healthcare sector demands its practitioners wear so many hats simultaneously. With this in mind, it is to a discussion of the indefinable and unmeasurable qualities of nursing that this paper now turns. To begin with, nursing is a highly principled pursuit."
