"In contrast with the religious teachings and the moralistic stance, both Freud and Nietzsche have taken a rather negative stance. In an attempt to equip human nature with greater knowledge of his fellowmen, they have destroyed the inherent goodness and innocence. The ignorance regarding an individual's ulterior intentions tends to result in civility and spontaneity in human interactions. The knowledge on the other hand, begets negativity and cynicism. The knowledge that a fellowman's ill will towards oneself only results in a desire to seek revenge which only perpetuates the cycle of negative actions and consequent negative reactions."
