A semi-circle, bounded on the north by mountains, on the south by the desert of Arabia, with an outlet to the Persian Gulf, this 'Fertile Crescent' as it has come to be known, favored the growth of coherent cultures. In the northern part, called Mesopotamia, rain is plentiful and the soil rich. The land is blessed with resources of stone, (...)"
