The tobacco industry, and particularly the cigarette industry, is one of the most controversial industries in America today with lawsuits being brought against large companies by the attorneys general of various states, and the industry entering into a highly structured agreement with the government regarding its business practices. Once an accepted and even encouraged part of American culture, cigarette smoking has become unacceptable in much of America with restaurants and other public places banning smoking altogether. In many workplaces, employees are no longer permitted to smoke inside the building. Warnings on cigarette packages have, for the past 30 years, warned of hazards to consumers' health. And cigarette manufacturers are now being accused of manipulating cigarettes so that they are more addictive than they.."
