But beyond simply reviewing the existing literature, this paper also provides an examination of new primary data into the issue through the inclusion of material taken from interviews performed for this paper with teachers of music who specialize in a range of ages of children and have worked both with those studying music intensively and those exposed to music on a more casual basis.
