This paper examines motivational theories in the workplace. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and McClelland's Acquired Needs Theory are applied to a fictitious manufacturing firm. It argues that both theories are applicable, but that an assumption that worker goals correspond directly to functional divisions of the firm is simplistic.From the Paper:
